In recent years, China’s professional audio industry has witnessed vigorous growth, bringing forth an increasing number of outstanding sound engineers. To boost the development of professional audio in China and foster the growth of sound engineering talents, the GETshow Cup China Sound Engineer Competition is initiated by the Industry Association of South China Entertainment Equipment (SCEE) and co-hosted by the China Institute of Stage Design. The competition aims to build an industry platform, facilitate exchanges in audio technology, recognise outstanding sound engineers, nurture new talent, raise public awareness of sound engineers, and jointly support the expansion and development of China’s sound engineering workforce in the new era.

Since its launch in 2025, the GETshow Cup China Sound Engineer Competition has rapidly developed into one of the most influential professional competitions in China’s audio industry. The event has drawn more than 200 outstanding sound engineers nationwide to sign up. A number of young students have distinguished themselves in front of industry elites, and many behind-the-scenes sound engineers have stepped into the spotlight of the industry via this platform.

The competition is not merely an arena for contest; it also acts as a direct access to core industry resources. Transcending the definition of a simple contest, it has become an important bridge linking talents with the industry and advancing the integration of industry and education.

Youth Power, Shine Brightly

Candidates shall be sound mixers or system engineers whose major field of study or job role focuses on professional entertainment sound reinforcement projects. They may also hold concurrent positions such as sound designer, audio designer or audio director.

Note: To offer more opportunities for practitioners, previous winners of this competition may re-apply only after a two-year waiting period.

【Entry Method】

Applications can be submitted via self-nomination, or recommendation by organisations or industry experts. Recommenders must fully complete the Recommendation Form and ensure all information provided is objective and true.

Three Major Awards, Waiting for Talents

The competition features a scientific and rigorous judging system. The jury consists of authoritative experts from China’s audio industry. Participants will be evaluated comprehensively from multiple dimensions such as professional skills, innovation capacity and industry contributions, to ensure every honour can stand the test of the industry. Three major award categories are established in the competition:

2026 Outstanding Sound Engineer of the Year (10 winners) 

 2026 Emerging Young Sound Engineer Award (5 winners) 

 2027 Outstanding Audio System Engineer of the Year (5 winners)

Winners of this competition will be invited to attend GETshow, the global entertainment technology exhibition in Guangzhou free of charge from February 24 to 27, 2027. They may communicate on-site with global industry elites, experts and company executives. Winners can enjoy immersive on-site visits and experience new products, technologies and applications from over 1,000 global entertainment equipment brands.
